If your bread is packaged and labelled for sale in Australia, check your artwork first. It should match the relevant Australian food labelling requirements before it goes to print. Food Standards Australia New Zealand, known as FSANZ, sets these requirements under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. This includes rules on allergen labelling. Since February 2024, Plain English Allergen Labelling has applied to packaged food sold in Australia. Common allergens in bread include wheat, milk, egg, sesame, and soy. These need to be declared where they are present as ingredients.
